About me...
Hi, I am Loren Wellings. Specialist Bit Consultant, Entrepeneur, Mother, horse lover and friend. I am the Owner at Horse Bit Emporium; an established online Horse Bit retail company based in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2014, I launched Horse Bit Emporium, following a struggle to find my own "perfect" horse bit. Pre-busy business days, I rode low level eventing. I enjoyed the social aspect and connection with my horse, more than my own competitive side.

Horse Bit Emporium opened a new angle of equine passion for me. I found myself travelling country wide, bit fitting; either for the pure experience and minimal income. I learnt through volume of experience and incredible mentors.
What I did not see at first, was how the shape of the bit can affect horses differently, based on their physiological shapes. Ie. Producing an outcome of behaviour and mechanics, dependent on the anatomy of the horse's mouth.

In 2018, I was fortunate to be mentored by the pioneer of the Bit Fitting concept, Bomber Nel. A South African Horse Bit Designer. Bomber started handmaking horse bits for the horses who fought in the Rhodesian Bush War. His refinement of bit shapes followed after in the polocrosse sport, where Bomber evolved his curiosity about why one horse would react to one bit shape and another would not.
Bomber's creative mind experimented and then lead him to answers around the anatomy of the horses mouth leading to the success of the bit (mouthpiece).
Drawing from Bomber's strong foundational mentorship, I have gone on to develop a quick eye for the link between the horse's physiological attributes; to the bit style; to the horse's mechanics.
I consult for the countries best performance horses, offering a high calibre service that is utilised to improve the horse's peace, performance and results.
Results aside, my passion to this profession lays foremost around preserving the physical attributes of the horse. Bitting to highlight the horse's natural gaits, maintaining a balanced connection between horse and rider.
